Hey, darling. I know it’s cold in Europe and Northern America, but the 90+ temperatures in the tropics are causing me to reach for uncooked, expansive-type foods (like fruits and raw salads) to keep cool. If you’re in the same mood, you should try this anti-inflammatory and an anti-parasitic tropical green smoothie.

With papaya and dragonfruit on the mind, I’ve been going to the local Balinese market in the mornings and stocking up on fruit, and then blending smoothies throughout the day (and green soups in the evenings) to stay healthy and fresh while traveling.

 

Being in Ubud (THE mecca for holistic healing and raw food in the world), there are also plenty of great health food stores to get green powders and medicinal foods if one desires, and a few I always keep on hand (and am now sourcing locally) are Chlorella Powder and Moringa Powder.

And if you know me, you know I’m a fan of anything GREEN. Chlorella (what gives plants and green juice its green color) is very similar to human DNA and helps our bodies repair and regenerate at an excellent rate. It makes me feel happy and clear-minded, so I like consuming plenty of greens in an easy-to-digest form, such as live food chlorella powder.

Next, with these green powders, biodynamic tropical fruits, and a Vitamix blender in tow, this following smoothie is one I’m making quite often, and one I recommend to ALL to stay healthy wherever you are (and beat any bugs – aka ‘parasites’ – that often affect those who are traveling in third-world countries).

Keep in mind, papaya seeds are included because they are a powerful anti-parasitic agent. However: Pregnant women and women trying to conceive should NOT consume papaya seeds because they are natural birth control and can cause spontaneous abortion.

Anti-Parasitic And Anti-Inflammatory Tropical Green Smoothie

A delicious and high-vibrational smoothie to sip for extra energy and to cool off.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Cups Ripe Papaya
  • 1 tsp Papaya Seeds (they taste very peppery, so start with 45 individual seeds)
  • 2 Mangoes
  • 5 Ice Cubes
  • 1/21 Tbsp Chlorella Powder
  • 1 tsp Moringa Powder

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth and creamy.
  2. Feel free to add frozen bananas, frozen berries, or any other fruit local in your area. These fruits are very cheap at the moment and are incredibly nutritious.
  3. Enjoy!

How much does this cost in Bali?

To break it down for you, 3 mangoes are about 1 kilo here (2.2 pounds). 1 kilo in the morning market is about 15,000 rupiah, which is equivalent to $1.10. A whole papaya (I use HALF to get 3 or 5 cups) is 10,000 rupiah, which is about 0.75 cents.

The green powders aren’t cheap, but they last a long time (I will also be taking them with me to Africa). The food listed above is enough for two meals for me.

Ahem – That’s about $2 for two meals, and then maybe $3 for enough jackfruit to last two days. A raw meal here is between $4 and $5, and it’s a gourmet, dense meal that will keep you full for a while if you’re used to consuming mono-meals. To say it’s REALLY easy to be raw and live simply here is an understatement.
