Hey, lovely!
So, a couple of weeks ago, Aaron (my partner/bf) and I finally took a trip to Seattle, Washington — a place we both adore. I’ve been before, but it was his first time to the state. And oh goodness, we fit in so much in just a few short days.
To begin with, things didn’t start off so easily… I was ridiculously silly and for the first time ever, mixed up flight times. Just as we were heading to the airport, I checked the tickets and realized… our plane had finished boarding.
Needless to say, I was a bit crushed.
But, if anything, Aaron and I are both persistent. So, we went to the airport and bit our tongues as we bought new flights. Hard part over, right? Eh, for the time being…
The rest of the trip, for the most part, was great! We ended up arriving in Seattle 8 hours later than we planned, but we let the hiccup go. Our first stop?
A marijuana dispensary.
To followers who are surprised as hell, please don’t be. Aaron and I are involved in the cannabis industry (you can read more here and visit our blog My Stoned Kitchen) because we support marijuana as a medicine. If people want to smoke it for recreational use, cool — it doesn’t bother us.
After acquiring plenty of pre-rolls, a new pipe, shatter and a pen, we took a Lyft to our Airbnb. The modern townhouse ended up being perfect for our stay, as it is located in a beautiful location and the hosts were incredibly gracious.
The next morning, Aaron and I got dressed, tried some cannabis-infused coffee, and then took a bus to downtown Seattle. Pikes Place Market was the first stop on our agenda.
Because Aaron and I are both foodies (go figure), we took advantage of all the great eats we came across. He tried plenty of deep-fried seafood dishes, and I gorged on fruit and weird creations such as this: (It was actually super yummy)
On our way to see the world’s first Starbucks, we also tried some fresh-brewed apple cider. Oh my goodness, guys, this was a treat.
And then, of course, being coffee-a-holics, we indulged in fresh coffee… at pretty much every stop.
A few other things we did on the first day include…
Visiting the Art Museum, where there was a special installation for Andrew Wyeth
Walking 10+ miles around the city…
Going on the Underground Tour (we HIGHLY recommend this)
Visiting another dispensary, then retiring to our AirBnB (hot tub, woo!)
The Second Day
The second day in Seattle, Aaron and I repeated the previous morning and walked to the bus station. After catching a ride to downtown Seattle, we visited Capitol Hill. There — I swear, it’s really difficult knowing if someone is homeless or just a hipster.
Like, REALLY difficult.
We also visited the docks near Pike’s Place Market
Rode the Ferris Wheel
Toured the Aquarium (otters, seals, yippee!)
Walked a lot to nowhere in particular
Visited Smith’s Tower but, unfortunately, did not go on the tour
Ate at Chaco Canyon (a vegan, live food restaurant)
Oh – and Biscuit Bitch
All in all, we fit in a lot during our time in Seattle and enjoyed every moment.
Airline Troubles — Again
Ahhhh. So, it turns out that if you miss a flight (at least, when you fly through Spirit), you have to inform the airlines or else they’ll sell your seat back.
This happened to us. Meaning, we had to buy two seats back to Las Vegas, once again, after arriving at the airport THREE HOURS early.
Argggghhhhhhh
Fortunately, we took the lesson in stride, paid the fee (after insisting on a reduced rate), and made it home to Las Vegas.
Troubles while traveling are expected. At the end of the day, you have to just enjoy yourself and appreciate the little things.
So there’s a recap of our Seattle, Washington trip! Thanks to all our friends who suggested sights to see and things to do during our stay.
