I remember being introduced to the concept of ‘vision boards’ when I was in the 9th grade. My psychology teacher, Mrs. Robinson, had our class watch The Secret which essentially explains the largely misunderstood “Law of Attraction.” She later gave the assignment to create a vision board.

I was excited about the project, but at the time, had no idea how powerful a vision board can be. Rather than focus on all the material objects I’d like to obtain in my lifetime, I instead predominantly focused on abstract concepts, such as ‘being more understanding’ and ‘learning to honor and respect nature.’ I also included goals such as work at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, become a highly-skilled plant-based chef, and travel abroad – specifically to Africa.

At the time, those goals were some of the most poignant I can visualize. And guess what?

Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Came. True. And, within a very short period of time.

I was blown away, to say the least. And since that time, I’ve created two more vision boards. Approximately 94% of what I’ve drawn, cut out and pasted on the vision boards has come true. Some are still a work in progress, but because I am optimistic (*hint hint*), I have no doubt they will manifest in the future.

Now that new opportunities are opening up in life and it’s time to reframe my intention(s), I recently decided to create another vision board. This one was one of the most ‘chaotic’ and colorful – which is fine, as it fits my mentality and life right now.

Now to the obvious questions…

Q: “What is a vision board?”

A: A vision board is a powerful visualization tool that you can use as inspiration for your journey toward your ideal life. Some people refer to it as a “dream board” or an “inspiration board.” No matter what you call it, it’s basically a collage of pictures, words, and quotes that serve to remind you of your passion and purpose.

I’ve included images of the one I created with my love further along in this post.

Q: Do I have to create my vision board in a certain way?

A: No! The best thing about vision boards is that you can make your “inspiration board” however you desire! Sometimes mine are very structured and are 100% illustrated. Other times, they are somewhat chaotic, similar to the one that is shared below.

Q: What tools will I need?

A: I recommend getting a poster board, markers, colored pencils and crayons, scissors, glue, and a TON of magazines to cut pictures from. If you have a printer, you can also seek out the ideal version of whatever it is you’d like to attract into your life and print an image of it. That’s what I did with my first vision board.

Q: Is it hard to create a vision board?

A: It is hard only in the sense that in order to create a vision board, one must allow themselves to WANT whatever it is they secretly desire to attain or achieve in life. This is difficult for most people, whether they are willing to admit it or not.

My recommendation is to put on an inspirational video such as the one below or put on some spa music, organize a studio of sorts to get creative, and just allow yourself to be free! Whatever you can conjure, it CAN be created!

Q: What is “the secret” behind a vision board?

A: The secret is that we live in a vibrational universe and that when one thinks and feels a thought and/or emotion (really, are they separate?) the universe responds. This happens regardless if the thought/emotion one is experiencing is ‘positive’ or ‘negative’. It’s for this reason that I recommend people be conscious of their thoughts.

A vision board is a powerful tool because it inspires the creator to consistently focus on their largest ambitions and feel empowered on a daily basis, so they do not give up and continue to persist. I recommend watching The Secret to learn more.

If you have more questions, by all means, contact me here or comment below. Following are some pictures of the vision boards my boyfriend and I created (for privacy purposes, I didn’t post his final masterpiece).

The key takeaway is to get creative, allow yourself to dream, and BELIEVE that whatever you can imagine can be created. I hope this post inspired you all. If it did, please comment below and share this resource so others can benefit!
