Hey there, beautiful!

Wowsers, it’s already September! I’m sure you, like many others, will agree that this summer went fast! So many changes happened internally and externally for all of us – and I certainly can attest to experiencing a lot of transformation these past 4-5 months. Thankfully, each fall season we get another opportunity to reclaim and settle into the lessons gifted through the detoxing / cleansing periods and form a better appreciation for the world around us. 😉

Today I’m super excited to share with you a smoothie that I absolutely adore, and that I know you’re sure to love.

AlmondButterSmoothie

I’ve shared quite a few green smoothie recipes on this site before (and hey! Even have a juices and smoothies e-book for sale) but nothing like this! Thanks to the gals at Simple Green Smoothies, inspiration dawned and this magnanimous shake was born.

First, What is a green smoothie?

Well, like I’ve described before, a green smoothie is basically an assortment of fruit and leafy greens (usually banana, frozen fruit, spinach, and some amount of liquid – either a plant mylk, juice, or water) blended into a meal of deliciousness! I really like using Spinach, as it’s a nutritious green that doesn’t change the flavor too much when you include it in smoothies.

My other recent favorite is freeze-dried wheatgrass powder. A must, ohmygoodness…

I absolutely ADORE green smoothies, and they are – and have been – a staple in my diet/lifestyle for many moons. I love the ease, the preparation, the beauty, the bounty of nutrition – everything! And that’s also why I LOVE sharing green smoothie recipes with you.

So get your blenders ready, you’ve just been introduced to your next infatuation. 😉

Almond Butter + Jelly Green Smoothie {Raw, Vegan}

Preparation Time: 10 – 15 Minutes

smoothie4

Serving Size: 2-3

Ingredients:

2 Cups Spinach, Fresh

2 Cups Almond Milk, Unsweetened (raw – here’s how you can make your own)

2 Cups Red Grapes

2 Bananas (Optional: frozen)

4 Tbsp Raw Almond Butter

Optional: Ice

Directions:

  1. Blend spinach and almond milk until smooth. Next, add the remaining fits and blend again.
  2. Tip: If you chop up bananas (and peel them, of course) before you freeze them, they’re much easier to blend and make your smoothie cold and creamy. I also recommend freezing your grapes overnight to chill the smoothie even further.
  3. Pour into 2-3 glasses and enjoy!

Notes:

*It is pertinent to note that high-fat, high fruit combinations do not work long-term on a high-raw diet. This should be a ‘treat’ recipe indulged in occasionally, similar to my raw dessert recipes. 😉

*Chew your smoothies! Just because it’s been blended doesn’t mean you shouldn’t chew your food. Digestion begins in the mouth, and certain enzymes help to break down the carbohydrates and speed up the digestion process (as well as make it more pleasant).

Finally, do you like this type of content? I’m working on a special ‘Detoxification feature’ because there are basic principles every human should know about when it comes to health, cleansing the body on a cellular level and regenerating via a raw foods diet. <3

Love your healthy, plant-based foods because they love you!
